About.

I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT STORYTELLING WITH A PURPOSE

I am passionate about amplifying other people's voices, which in turn has an impact in their lives and in the world, via the art of storytelling. I also enjoy being surrounded by brilliant people that share the vision of journalism and storytelling and I am truly humbled by their support. Meanwhile, I am excited by the ever-growing challenges and milestones I am faced with as my career unfolds and keen to take them on.

MY JOURNEY

I was 12-years-old when I discovered my talent in writing; storytelling. I did not come as an immediate thing, but as a gradual process. My imagination was wild and it was plastered all over my compositions and essays. My English teacher and my fellow classmates began taking interest in my work - I was different.

I began taking a keener interest in writing. I read lots of books, watched so many films and wrote as much as I could. At one point, I even began doing spoken word in my Church.

I remember my composition being the best in my school region during the class 8 mock examination - a paper that was marked by more than three teachers. I yearned for more. So I formed the first ever journalism club in my school. I ran interviews during the week and read news from my hand-written pieces of paper during weekly assembly. My English teacher and Head teacher began mentoring me and I did for sure become better. The school president joined soon after, and other students from other classes joined as well.

Currently, the school has a vibrant journalism club that report on school news and, also publishes annual school magazines.

While in high school, I joined the journalism club and participated in so many vibrant activities such as publishing of articles, debates, symposiums, and public speaking, which saw me have my first ever radio interview at a local community radio station - Radio Amani.

Being a budding journalist, I pursued journalism in Daystar University. While I was a freshman, I participated in the university's essay writing competition and got awarded an honorable mention certificate. I went further into joining the university's Involvement Newspaper, and radio station: Shine 103.1 FM, where I harnessed my journalistic skills. Both practicing what I learnt from class, an also getting mentored by Juniors and Seniors.

The Standard Media Group exposed me to the digital world, which I am passionate about and practice to date. I got to learn social media management and digital marketing.

CGTN Africa took me through the entire delicate, intentional, purposeful process of pre-production, production and post-production of documentaries that featured African stories. It deepened my knowledge in production and Africa's history and milestones.

Covering former President Mwai Kibaki's funeral is one of my highlights at LOOK UP TV. Also, Informing the world about Kenyan issues via anchoring and reporting has amplified the voices of those at the grassroots level.

Covering real estate positioned LOOK UP TV to that industry's clients. It also served to inform, educate and inspire the target audience: Home hunters, home owners, business owners, interior designers and developers.

Still being passionate on digital, I am proud of the achievements I made on the LOOK UP TV Digital department; organically.

Escalating from 13K followers to 119K followers on Facebook, 7K subscribers to 25K subscribers on YouTube; plus, constant increase in monthly revenue and, launching a new active, timely, functional, revenue-generating website. Gaining total views, impressions and reach of 24.9M across all Look Up TV social media platforms and YouTube.

As the Digital Media Editor at CGTN Africa, a global broadcaster reaching millions across Africa and beyond, I have had the privilege of telling stories that matter. From climate action and wildlife conservation to the arts, music, security, and mental health. I have navigated a diverse range of topics with a focus on depth and impact. This year, I covered one of the most significant environmental milestones—the Sixth Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6), held from February 26 to March 1, 2024, at the UNEP headquarters in Nairobi.

I have garnered many certificates in the course of my journey. Here is the list.

I have a keen interest in matters gender, climate, health, community, human rights and, human interest stories

Dr. Myles Monroe states in his book 'The Principles and Power of Vision' that,

"The most powerful force in life is the force of vision". In addition, God placed a unique vision in everyone, "You were not created to be 'normal'. You were designed by God not to blend in, but to stand out.”

There are those who make things happen, those who ask "What just happened?" and those who never seem to be aware that things are happening around them.

I make things happen. Join me, a girl with a vision, on this beautiful journey.
